The highly-anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul failed to meet those weighty expectations. Between problems with the Netflix streaming service — leaving many viewers staring at a buffering screen — and the fight itself being a rather drab affair, many sports fans were left wondering what they had just watched. Or tried to watch, as the case may be.

To be fair, the co-main event title bout between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor was certainly worth watching.

However, the biggest drama might have come during the buildup to the two main events. With the fight in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, you might not be surprised to learn that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and Cowboys legend Michael Irvin, stopped by the Netflix set.

During their visit, the former wide receiver and current NFL analyst let it slip that he was in Jones’ ear about who the next Dallas coach should be.

Drawing a comparison between the unconventional path Paul had taken to this moment, and Sanders’ own coaching path, Irvin noted that he would be in Jones’ ear about the current Colorado coach:

“Everybody loves Mike [Tyson], but everybody loves and respects Jake [Paul] also for what he’s done here. To have an ability to not go the normal route and still end up right here. You give him respect. I give him respect like I give my great guy Deion Sanders, who didn’t go the normal route. Who I’m gonna be in Jerry’s ear about later. That’s just something else we’re talking about,” said Irvin.

Jones quickly interjected and changed the subject, but the cat was out of the bag.

Perhaps Irvin was just remembering a piece he read from our own James Dator back in August …
