“Maybe I should start writing like you.”

My best friend Laura told me this phrase one day while we were complaining about many things happening in our lives. She had seen how, after four years of writing, I finally left my full-time job and am living slightly freer, and she wanted a change.

I was happy for her to make that step. I always like to coach people who want to start creating content. Writing has been my life for the last few years, and I have achieved many things thanks to it. So, for me, it was always a pleasure to help others to grow like me.

To motivate her, I opened my computer and started showing her a bunch of screenshots of all my successes. How I received a $500 tip from a client one day after a 2000-word post, how I have had articles worth $2000–4000 with just two hours of work, and how I receive monthly money in my account for old posts I wrote even two years ago.

She was excited. We started talking about how she would eventually be able to save up more money for a car or stop working.

I thought I had done a good job motivating her until she worked very hard in the first few months, and the results were not the same. I had…
