Where to Eat in Toronto

Share

I asked my Instagram followers ‘where to eat in Toronto?’ and was inundated with responses. Here are the top answers to help guide your dining adventures in the big city!

I’ve been visiting Toronto more frequently lately for business, and have been loving the opportunity to sink my teeth into the local food scene. I’ve really only scratched the surface: it’s a shame that we get full, you know?

While I haven’t tried all of these recommendations below, I made sure to pull the ones that were suggested over and over again. Let me know your top Toronto restaurant recommendations in the comments below!

Oretta

This beautiful spot features many authentic Italian classics representing various regions of Italy using only the finest of ingredients, all prepared with modern-day flair. Their happy hour is exceptional and the table-side Cacio e Pepe was entertaining and delicious.

Gia

A plant-forward restaurant specializing in freshly made vegan and vegetarian pasta. Gia is amongst the first restaurants in Canada to be recognized and recommended by the renowned Michelin Guide.

Planta

Planta Yorkville is 100% plant-based: the Bang Bang Broccoli has a cult following (and its own merch), but apparently the veggie burger is incredible and they have the best vegan sushi in Yorkville according to their site. They also have locations all over the United States!

Canoe

This one is at the top of my list to try next time I visit: it came highly recommended! Canoe crafts dishes reflective of Canada’s diverse landscape: their chefs work closely with farmers and suppliers to source the finest ingredients from across the nation.

Pai

If you’re in the market for Thai food, this is your place according to those who chimed in. Count me in.

Lee Restaurant

This one came highly suggested, home to Chef Susur Lee (fellow Canadian influencer) serving up classical French/South East Asian cooking.

Sofia Yorkville

For a higher end dining experience, try here for exquisite Italian cuisine.

Stock Bar

A spacious and welcoming restaurant with an elegant bar and a breezy rooftop oasis that serves the finest steaks, the greatest burger, the handcrafted pizza and pasta dishes you know and love are all available here.

Piano Piano

The menu features traditional Italian fare that’s been elevated to its most delicious self. If there’s a common thread that runs through PIANO PIANO, it’s a deep-seated soulfulness and sensuality that’s at once warm, welcoming and just plain fun.

Daphne

This was highly recommended with having a great ambience, beautiful decor, great food. Could you ask for anything more? I took a look at the menu and the wood fire grill seafood and pizzas piqued my interest along with the impressive wine list and cocktail menu. Oh, and they have the cutest patio!!

Baro Toronto

Baro is bursting with colourful decor, creative Latin dishes & cocktails. This multi-level spot offers a few places to eat; The Dining Room, Pablo’s Snackhouse, The Loft, and the Baro Rooftop. This is a place to have some serious fun!

Mandy’s Gourmet Salads

The best gourmet salad spot around! Created by sisters Many and Rebecca (you may own their cookbooks) this is such a beautiful spot to get something fresh, and a also great option for takeout.

Richmond Station

Richmond Station’s menu is inspired by the local and seasonal ingredients from Southern Ontario. If you are looking for something unique, book in for their tasting menu (which changes every two weeks) and highlights the ingredients that are in peak season at that very moment.

El Catrin

El Catrin serves authentic, traditional and modern Mexican cuisine and has the largest tequila and mezcal collection in the country….mic drop!

Bar Raval

If you can’t make it to Spain, you might as well try to make it to Bar Raval! It’s time for an apertivo. This Barcelona-inspired pinxto
bar serves small plates and tapas to share.

Here are some more guides to other places, all of which include places to eat. Happy exploring!
