In 1983, Charles Keating made his Another World debut in the role of Carl Hutchins, an infamous villain who eventually changed his ways and won Rachel Cory’s heart. In his introduction scene, Carl arrived at a party at the country club that Felicia was throwing in his honor. Keating, who passed away in 2016, would ultimately play Carl from 1983-85 and return in 1991, 1992, and 1993. His second comeback in 1993 began a run that lasted until 1998, and he returned again for the show’s finale in 1999. In 1996, Keating won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for his work as Carl.
In 2007, a memorial service was held for the late Georgie Jones, who had recently been murdered on General Hospital. During her eulogy, Georgie’s grieving big sister, Maxie (Kirsten Storms, r.) lit into her absentee mother, Felicia (Kristina Wagner), who had returned to Port Charles in the wake of her daughter’s killing. After going off on Felicia for abandoning her girls, Maxie ranted, “To me, getting dumped wasn’t the worst part. It was the way she forced my sister to be okay with the abandonment to make herself feel better” and pronounced her “a selfish bitch who didn’t want anything to do with her own children.” Felicia was devastated by Maxie’s angry words.
In 2005, with reports of his death greatly exaggerated, Jack Deveraux’s (Matthew Ashford) loved ones, including his beloved Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) gathered for his memorial service on Days of Our Lives. As she steeled herself before the memorial, Jennifer insisted, “I’m fine. I have to be. It’s what Jack would have wanted.” Maggie, Mickey, Alice, Abe, Lexie and Frankie, among others, rallied behind her on the difficult day.
In 2010, General Hospital‘s Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) wedding got underway at the Quartermaine mansion. Luke’s children Lulu and Lucky served as the maid of honor and best man, respectively, and Maya Ward and Ethan Lovett (Luke’s other son) were in the wedding party. Tracy almost left Luke at the altar, but Lulu, along with Tracy’s granddaughter Brook Lynn Ashton, were able to convince her to go through with the ceremony.
In 2016, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin, r.) gave birth to Holly on Days of Our Lives. Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) wasn’t aware of it at the time, but the little girl was actually her own biological child, and the girl’s biological father was the late Daniel Jonas. Chloe had been implanted with a Nicole/Daniel embryo after Daniel’s tragic death. In Chicago, Nicole and Chloe were snowed in near the Lakeciew Inn when she went into labor. Nicole coached Chloe through her contractions, and dismissed Chloe’s guilty comments (“I’ve been so unfair to you!”) as the pain talking. Nicole wound up delivering the baby and they ultimately got to a hospital, where doctors revealed that Chloe had suffered a stroke due to pre-eclampsia. Early in 2017, Chloe came clean with Nicole and revealed that Nic is Holly’s mother.
