Over the years, I’ve had a lot of requests from y’all asking if I would take on design clients. I receive countless decorating questions in my inbox and DMs every single day, no exaggeration.
And even though I always wanted to go out of my way to be as helpful as possible to this incredible Bless’er House community, I knew I would be doing my family and my own mental health a disservice by sacrificing more time to handle all of the design requests.
I’ve always had to say, “Thank you for the honor of entrusting me with your home, but I simply can’t at this time.” I have a hard time saying no, especially when the former teacher in me always feels the tug to help any time help is needed.
How DIY Decorator School™ Happened
Then two years ago, it hit me. DIY interior decorating needed to be an all-inclusive course with accessible, simplified design lessons for homeowners.
It was time someone walked through the entire room makeover process step-by-step to teach paint color choosing, mood boarding, thrifting tricks, furniture arranging, style cohesion, wise solutions for function, rugs, window treatments, lighting, pattern mixing, accent styling, important measurements… holy smokes, home decorating is a complicated task! But it won’t be anymore.
I realized I could teach you all of it, holding your hand every step of the way from beginning to end to a completely finished room makeover for you to discover it’s not nearly as hard as it looks. Once you understand the process, it’s empowering… and really addicting.
What You’ll Learn
So after 2 years of behind-the-scenes work and a 3 month sabbatical from this blog, DIY Decorator School™ is born. My course walks you through my room makeover system that I’ve used for a decade to save time, money, and energy.
What you’ll learn is applicable to every situation from $0 room refreshes using what you already have all the way up to massive $100K remodels.
Despite how trends change over time, the fundamentals you learn in the course will always work in any home forever for the rest of your life. (Side note: the lessons will always encourage you to embrace your own unique decorating style, trendy or not.)
Instead of giving you a design, I teach you how to design. And by doing so it’s made more affordable for you. For the cost of hiring an interior designer for only 1 hour, you could have the skills to decorate your own home forever exactly the way you want. It pays for itself time and time again.
As an upgrade to the course, you can choose the DIY Decorator School™ + Extra Credit bundle. The Extra Credit upgrade comes with a digital spreadsheet planner and workshop called Design Lab Partner designed specifically for couples who want to ditch the stress and avoid conflicts in home projects.
It walks you through how to blend decorating styles with your partner, budget projects wisely, prioritize each other’s needs, communicate clearly, and formulate a complete room makeover plan together.
The course will also have the option to add on the DIY Decorator School™ Community. It’s a private Facebook group monthly membership reserved exclusively for course students that gives you direct access to personalized guidance from me PLUS an encouraging group of classmates who are going through the same process right alongside you.
The Community will allow you to share photos, ask questions, get step-by-step advice, and gather ideas & inspiration for your unique home.
Together with your classmates, you’ll get encouragement and accountability (plus some fun weekly “home”work challenges and prizes thrown in).
When Enrollment Ends
On March 28th, enrollment for the Spring 2025 Semester of DIY Decorator School™ will close. I want to make sure every student has the information and attention from me they need to decorate a room (and eventually an entire home) they love. So the DDS Community enrollment is limited and won’t open again until Summer Semester.
By the end of this course, you’ll have a completed room makeover to enjoy in time for summer. There will not be a better time to jump into this course and start making your home a place that inspires you and serves your family well.
