An impressive beachfront home in Parkdale has sold for a whopping $5.35m.
A showstopping home located in what was once a “sleepy beachside hollow” has sold for a massive $5.35m, smashing the suburb’s sale price record.
The five-bedroom house at 161 Beach Rd, Parkdale, garnered serious buyer interest as a result of its size, location, and multiple living and entertainment areas, according to Buxton agent Mathew Cox.
“This home is an absolute showstopper,” Mr Cox said.

The result emerged just a few weeks after another home at 180 Beach Rd was sold for $5.07m by Nick Johnstone Real Estate.
A first-floor pool just metres from the upstairs kitchen and living area is one of the most “interesting” features of the home, according to the agent.
“A lot of people have pools disjointed from the house, whereas what‘s great about this home, is mum and dad can sit there working or cooking in the kitchen, while they watch the young ones play just 10 feet away in the pool,” Mr Cox said.
The home chef can keep an eye on the fun in the pool while preparing dinner.
The house is an “absolute showstopper” according to Buxton agent Mathew Cox.
A large balcony wraps around the upstairs living area, which features an enviable kitchen at its centre, with a lift that allows groceries to be carried directly from the basement to the butler’s pantry.
A luxurious main bedroom with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe is also located on the upper level of the home, with another four bedrooms downstairs.

The impressive kitchen features a seemingly never-ending stone island bench at its centre.
There is also a basement theatre, hydronic heating, airconditioning, comprehensive security system and a massive six-car underground garage.
The almost 700sq m property boasts panoramic views of Port Phillip Bay, from Mordialloc beach around to Beaumaris, even from the bottom level.
A luxurious main bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite is located on the upper level.
Floor-to-ceiling tiled bathrooms add to the home’s showstopping appeal.
“Ground floor bay views out of two bedrooms is a really unique feature,” he said.
“While both rooms offer beach views, the teenage kids of the couple who bought the house were having an argument about which one would get the downstairs bedroom with the ensuite.”
The local family who snagged the property were looking to upsize, with more buyers now considering Parkdale over popular neighbouring Bayside suburbs, according to Mr Cox.
A massive six-car basement garage is one of the starring features of the home.
Kids are bound to keep themselves entertained with their very own home cinema.
“If you look at Beach Rd over the last probably 12 months, there just hasn’t been a lot of really high quality homes in suburbs like Beaumaris, Black Rock and Sandringham,” he said.
“So it’s forcing people to look at Parkdale now as an option, which was once one of those little sleepy beachside hollows that no one knew about, but now it’s really on the radar.
“The grammar schools, Catholic schools … they’re pulling down buyers that previously wouldn’t have looked in the suburb.”
A 2.4m wide entrance hall compliments the grandeur of the beachfront home.
The cosy upper living area offers endless bay views.
Mr Cox said the record-breaking sale had set a “new standard” in Parkdale.
“Everyone pulls me up on the street about it now,” he said.
“It definitely has set a new standard in terms of pricing, but it’s actually opened a lot of people’s eyes to the suburb, which has been really good.”
Located only 450m down the road, the suburb’s previous record was set by a four-bedroom home at 180 Beach Rd, which sold for $5.07m in January.
