Connect Four: Briana Nicole Henry and husband Kris Bowers are poised to become parents for the second time.
Congratulations are in store for General Hospital alum Briana Nicole Henry, who played Jordan Ashford on the show from 2018 until 2021. The actress and her husband, Academy Award-winning composer and filmmaker Kris Bowers, are expecting their second child!
Great Expectations
Henry has been showing off her growing baby bump on the record carpet as awards season gets underway, most recently as she accompanied Bowers to the Golden Globes on January 5.
Henry and Bowers tied the knot on June 6, 2020, though their original wedding plans had to be scrapped due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Henry explained to Soap Opera Digest at the time, “We ultimately decided to move forward because we felt really passionately about continuing to face all of the upset and pain going on as a complete unit, which emotionally we already were! But legally. We had already been engaged for over a year and truly just wanted to start moving on with the next steps of our lives. We had planned our original wedding for well over a year and although fun, it was time-consuming. And with the pandemic being unpredictable we had no real idea of when we may be able to postpone to realistically… We realized that the wedding was always supposed to be about solidifying our love and commitment to each other. And after getting through the last few months we felt even more like a team. It just felt right to make it official.” Bowers suggested using the backyard of his studio as the setting, and Henry quickly got on board. “Truthfully, it felt like it would be easier to control an environment that was ours, so it seemed to be the safest decision,” she noted.
The actress announced her first pregnancy in November 2021, posting on Instagram, “I have been so hesitant about sharing this for a myriad of reasons. I think mostly because I’m still processing all this change, this new evolution of myself. Pregnancy is different for everyone, but for myself, it’s revealed a level of vulnerability that has brought me to my knees most days. It has illuminated what magic it is that any of us have gotten here in the first place, and that that arrival was due to sacrifice and a deep love. I feel beautiful some days and unfamiliar to myself most. I feel excited and terrified for what this next chapter of my life will demand of me. I feel powerful and weak, I feel like I’m getting to know a completely different version of who I am. One I hadn’t met until I could feel her moving inside of me.”
On February 28, 2022, the couple’s first child, daughter Coda, was born. The new mom enthused on Instagram, “You have introduced me to my favorite version of myself. Thanks for making the journey here with me little one. Welcome my little Coda, I love you endlessly.” She added, “@krisbowersmusic thank you for reminding me of my power throughout this entire process. I love you. Lucky us.”
Henry had not addressed the imminent family expansion on social media before posting on Instagram alongside her husband the morning after the Golden Globes. She wrote, “Proud of you, always. And oh yeah, I’m pregnant 👶🏽.” Former GH co-stars Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden; Taylor, Bold and Beautiful) and Josh Swickard (Chase) were among the first to offer their congratulations, with Budig writing, “YYYEEESSSSSSSS!! Congratulations beautiful girl. ❤️,” and Swickard offering, “YEEEASSSSS🔥❤️.”
Digest sends its warmest congratulations to Henry, Bowers and little Coda, as well!
