It’s almost New Year’s Eve, which means we’re counting down until it’s time to watch Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper take tequila shots live on CNN. At this point, watching them go back and forth with their is just as entertaining as watching the NYE ball drop.
This will be their eighth consecutive year hosting the New Year’s special, so Andy has a little bit of an idea of how the night’s going to end. He thinks he’ll end up being the “straight guy” on the broadcast while Anderson lets his hair down for the first time all year.
According to Andy, that’s the most “annoying” part of the whole gig.
Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper are ready to ring in the New Year with CNN on NYE
The longtime pals have been razzing each other leading up to the big night. During a recent interview, Anderson was asked about his biggest pet peeve of hosting New Year’s Eve with Andy. With that in mind, People gave Andy the chance to air out his own grievances. What does he find annoying about hosting with Anderson?
“Well, [it’s] that I have to be the straight guy,” Andy explained. “Literally, he’s in a puddle of giggles for the last 90 minutes of the broadcast, and I’m the one that’s hitting all the commercial breaks.”
He continued, “I kind of turn into Mr. CNN for the last 90 minutes, and he turns into Mr. Bravo.”
Although it might be frustrating to steer the plane for the last bit of the broadcast, Andy admitted that it’s actually a “fun role reversal” for the two of them. And, let’s face it, Anderson deserves a break!
Over the last year, CNN had this guy covering every second of the 2024 presidential election. Plus, let’s not forget how they pulled him out from behind the desk and put him in front of a hurricane. That man deserves more than just tequila shots on New Year’s!
CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen airs Tuesday, Dec 31, at 8/7c on CNN.
