In 1989, All My Children’s Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) and Dixie Cooney (Cady McClain) wed for the first time. The duo had been on the fast track to the altar after falling in love while he helped save her and her young son, Adam Chandler, Jr., from his devious father, Adam Chandler, Sr., to whom Dixie had briefly been married. Cady McClain recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2014, “Boy, I was so young. I just had an enormous amount of innocence and so putting on that dress and walking down the aisle to Michael… That was truly magical, that first wedding. I just allowed myself to enjoy that completely.”

In 2005, As The World Turns’s Emily Stewart (Kelley Menighan) shot Paul Ryan (Roger Howarth) in the back on their would-be wedding day when he told her he wasn’t going to marry her. Paul tried to let her down gently, telling her, “Emily, you’re the strongest person I know…. At least now you’ll be free, free to have the life that you deserve. And I only hope that one day, you will understand that.” Emily was blinded by rage and as Paul walked away, she grabbed a gun out of her purse and fired it at him!

In 2006, Bo and Hope Brady (Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso) celebrated the birth of their daughter, Ciara, on Days of Our Lives. She was not delivered under ideal circumstances, to say the least. Hope had been led to believe that the father of her baby was Patrick Lockhart and he spiraled out of control when she informed him that she was reconciling with Bo. He kidnapped Hope and dragged her to an abandoned warehouse, intending to kill her. She was able to place a secret call to Bo, who raced to save her. By the time he arrived at the warehouse, her water had broken! Bo quickly summoned an ambulance and helped deliver the baby girl. Soon after she was born, Patrick confessed that he was not the true father; Bo was!

In 2008, General Hospital’s Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) and Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) wed for the first time. The couple’s first wedding had been derailed when the bride went into labor with their daughter, Emma. This time around, “Scrubs” fans were able to celebrate a completed union! The bride had both of her parents, Anna and Robert, by her side, and in a flashback-filled affair, Robin told Patrick that she was “hopelessly and forever in love with him, while Patrick vowed to “master the art of opening up.” At the reception, Patrick swept his bride onto the dance floor and beamed, “Perfect day.”

In 2017, Tyler Christopher debuted as Days of Our Lives‘s Stefan O. DiMera, the surprise son of Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) and Stefano DiMera. Already a Daytime Emmy winner for his work as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital, Christopher told Soap Opera Digest upon his hiring, “I played Nikolas for 20 years, so to be able to come in here with a whole new cast and a whole new set of people, some familiar faces, some new, it sort of renewed my spirit for the genre. I kind of felt like I was starting over again, so I had that renewed sense of spirit for the work and I hope it carries over.”
