Most popular real estate listings of 2024 – an array of spectacular homes ranging from architectural marvels to waterfront rarities.

A lavish 13 bedroom mansion set across a huge amalgamated block in the Gold Coast with 25 carat gold accents to its infinity pool was the most-viewed listing on realestate.com.au for 2024.

The astonishing abode at 36 River Cove Place, Helensvale, hit the market earlier this year and was listed again this month, and has clocked up an impressive 157,561 views.

Sales agent Mark Hadir from Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty said he was not surprised at the level of online interest given the local, national and international buyer attention it has received.

“Its unmatched grandeur, luxury, and lifestyle appeal, combined with Mediterranean-inspired architecture and meticulous attention to detail, create both a visual and emotional impact that resonates with discerning buyers looking for exclusivity and prestige,” he said.

He said the iconic, one-of-a-kind residence offered exclusivity across more than 1ha of prime waterfront real estate, with no expense spared throughout.

A 250,000-litre infinity swimming pool, a King Neptune statue, two pontoons, a 15 seat ‘gold class’ style cinema and a  professionally fitted gym are among some of the home’s long list of luxe features.

The home is currently on the market via an Offers campaign until January 31.

Derelict, graffiti ravaged home notches up 140,000 plus views

An unliveable, graffiti adorned abandoned mansion in Melbourne’s outer southeast saw the quirky property rank as the second most viewed listing for 2024.

Attracting a staggering 143,688 views, the eight bedroom, four level residence at 650 Woori Yallock Road, Cockatoo is described in its listing as a “local icon.”

Offered for sale for only the second time in its lifetime, it has an asking price of $900,000 to $990,000.

Earlier in the year, sales agent Mick Dolphin, from Ranges First National Real Estate Belgrave, told realestate.com.au that the residence seemed to fascinate people.

 “I think [the future buyer is] someone who is looking for a bit of land – it’s a project with a lot of work to be done but for someone who’s looking for something different, with a bit of vision,” he said.

Originally built by an eastern European couple, the grand yet dilapidated property on a 5.26ha landholding features an external turret-style staircase, three balconies and wide hallways.

Its listing warned that due to the onsite conditions closed toe shoes and long pants were a must when inspecting.

Notching up an impressive 82,245 views, 69 Wolseley Road, Point Piper is currently on the market via an Expressions of Interest campaign.

Its grand proportions include picture perfect living areas across the main level, a beautiful parterre garden designed by renowned landscaper Annie Wilkes, four bedrooms, a chef’s kitchen and a  self-contained junior suite with its own private entry.

Palatial home in one of Melbourne’s priciest streets

Attracting more than 81,000 online views, 12 Lansell Rd, Toorak spent 10 months on the market before finally selling this month for within its $22m-$24m price range according to industry sources.

Known as ‘Halstead,’ the five bedroom residence is set on a sprawling 3286sqm block and was designed in the Arts and Craft-style by prominent Melbourne architect Walter Butler in 1916 for Francis Clements, chairman of the Victorian State Electricity Commission at the time.

Highlights of the property include a cellar, a pool, outdoor kitchen and threatre, wood panelling, leadlight windows, French doors, statement chandeliers, Tasmanian oak flooring and fireplaces.

One of a kind island home

Another property that garnered thousands of online hits in 2024 is a palatial waterfront abode at 8 Minyama Island, Minyama, clocking up 80969 views.

One of just 22 homes on the Queensland island, sales agent Jordan Lund from Elite Lifestyle Properties – Sunshine Coast said the home was part of a sought-after enclave.

“You are in one of the most prestigious parts of the Sunshine Coast, looking to due north on Mooloolah River and on Minyama Island,” he said.

“Realistically, it’s as prestigious in the Sunshine Coast southern end as you can get.”

Inside, the five bedroom, five bathroom residence features a mezzanine walkway, a bar and games area, a gymnasium with direct pool access and a private lounge.

There is also covered storage for a caravan or boat and jet skis and a large pontoon to the rear.

Mr Lund could not be drawn on the property’s asking price.

‘Floating’ marvels draws interest

A prestige Noosa home which appears to float above the hinterland drew considerable online attention with 79795 views.

Located at 108 Panorama Drive, Eumundi, the five bedroom, five bathroom home known as ‘Amar’ was designed by Paul Clout Design and brought to life by Clout Build.

Highlights of the residence include living spaces with marble stone and oak flooring, an infinity pool overlooking Cooroy Mountain, a wellness retreat, gym and sauna, cinema, as well as a wine cellar and whisky room.

Earlier this year, Reed and Co. Estate Agents director and founder Adrian Reed told realestate.com.au the home was set apart for its broad appeal and thoughtful design.

“It seamlessly blends elements of wellness and entertainment, catering to a diverse range of potential buyers,” he said.

The Block’s Eliza and Liberty’s home sells again

A Hampton East property made famous as one of five homes to be overhauled during reality television show The Block in 2023, clocked up 73734 online views.

Returning to the market after being snapped up during the final episode of The Block’s auction by Adrian Portelli in November, the completely transformed five-bedroom home at 22 Charming Street was overhauled by sisters Eliza and Liberty Paschke.

The home itself was the biggest property of The Block 2023 and was set on a 632sqm lot, and featured raked ceilings, European oak floorboards, two entertaining areas, a pool house and in-ground plunge pool.

Portelli, millionaire and owner of promotions business LMCT+, sold the property in April for $3,245,000 – a $1.055m loss.
