Bacon-Wrapped Dill Pickle Dip – The Stay At Home Chef

Share

Meet your new obsession! I don’t mean to toot my own horn (or maybe I do, ha!), but this Bacon-Wrapped Pickle Dip is so good you’ll be dipping your potato chip again and again. It’s hard to say no to seconds, thirds, or even fourths because of its creamy texture holding all that pickle flavor. Let’s be honest—when bacon and pickles come together, it’s a beautiful (and seriously tasty) thing!

Serve this up with our favorite homemade french bread or alongside our smoked chicken wings for game day!

Why Our Recipe

  • Tastes like a bacon-wrapped pickle, but all in a creamy, cheesy, bacon-y dip form.
  • Combines tangy dill pickles, smoky bacon, and a creamy base for an irresistible combination of flavors.
  • Serve with chips, crackers, bread, or veggies.

This dip is perfect as an appetizer or for special occasions, but because it’s on the heavier side, you might find yourself enjoying it as a meal—we certainly did! It’s comparable to classics like spinach dip or spinach artichoke dip. Pair it with your favorite chips, crackers, crusty bread, or crisp veggies for the ultimate snack spread, or as we like to call it: a snack-i-tizer. This is one of those quick and easy dips that’ll have everyone asking for the recipe!

Ingredient Notes

  • Sour Cream and Mayo: This combination makes the dip smooth and creamy. If you prefer to just use sour cream, you certainly can, but the mayo balances the sour cream and is a benefit to this dip. You could also use plain Greek yogurt.
  • Pickle Juice: Use some from the jar of pickles you use.
  • Bacon: We cook our bacon in the oven or in the air fryer for convenience. You can also purchase pre-cooked. You can use thick-cut, classic cut or even a low sodium bacon.
  • Pickles: For this recipe you’ll want to use dill pickles.
  • Cheese: We prefer sharp cheddar for its bold flavor and like to grate it ourselves. However, you can use pre-shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Herbs: You can substitute fresh herbs for dried herbs (parsley, chives, and dill). Use double the amount.

Cheese Options

While we love sharp cheddar for its bold flavor, feel free to use your favorite variety. Some great alternatives include mild cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Colby Jack.

Dipper Ideas

While you can certainly enjoy this dip by the spoonful, it’s even better when paired with a delicious dipper. Our favorite way to enjoy it, though, is with crusty bread—it really lets all the flavors of the dip shine.

Crackers: A sturdy cracker like pita chips or wheat thins is a great option to scoop up all that cheesy goodness.

Potato Chips: The perfect classic pairing.

Pretzels or Pretzel Rolls: The slightly salty, chewy texture works perfectly for pickle flavors. You can even make your own Pretzel Rolls or Soft Pretzels for an extra-special touch.

Crusty Bread: A thick slice of baguette or sourdough really lets the creamy dip shine. Consider toasting the bread for added texture.

Veggies: Keep it light and refreshing with crisp celery sticks, carrot sticks, or cucumber slices.

Make-Ahead Tips

This dip is so easy to whip up on a whim, especially if you have pre-cooked bacon ready to go. The hardest part? Waiting for it to chill in the fridge, because you’ll want to dig in as you make it. But trust the process—letting the dip sit for an hour allows the dried herbs and seasonings to fully develop. Of course, you can use fresh herbs too!

You can make the dip up to 2 days in advance. Stir the dip thoroughly before serving to redistribute the ingredients and ensure the creamiest texture. If it feels a bit thick, mix in 1–2 tablespoons of milk or pickle juice to loosen it.

Storage Instructions

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 6-7 days.
