There’s nothing like a good Hyaluronic Acid serum for a lovely plumpness to the skin so I was very excited to try out the new Skinceuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan serum which is an upgrade to their best selling Hyaluronic Acid. Here’s what you need to know.
What is Skinceuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan?
This is a brand new formula from Skinceuticals, described as a multi-dimensional volumising serum to plump and contour:
- Next-generation corrective serum
- Proven to amplify the skin’s own hyaluronic acid levels
- Leaves skin looking plumper and more contoured
- Contains a high concentration of 1.3% pure hyaluronic acid
- Includes 12% Proxylane™
- Also features a new post-biotic ferment to increase the effectiveness of HA
- Promises instant hydration that lasts 48 hours
- Preserves levels of Hyaluronic Acid in the uppermost layers of the skin
Key Ingredients
1.3% Hyaluronic Acid – to plump and hydrate
12% Proxylane – more concentrated than the previous H.A. Intensifier formula, works to support skin’s hyaluronic acid levels to help improve the appearance of skin firmness
2% Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Liquorice Root Extract) & 2% Post-biotic Ferment (New Ingredient) – helps support skins firmness and improve skins texture
0.2% Purple Rice Extract – preserves HA levels in the skin’s uppermost layer
How to use it
This is designed to be used once or twice a day. All you need to do is apply 4-6 drops and blend over the forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck.
Where in your routine should the Skinceuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan go?
If using in the morning, apply after a vitamin C antioxidant serum and before a sunscreen. You can add in moisturiser before sunscreen if you wish.
My Review of Skinceuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan
I have been absolutely loving this serum because it is so instantly plumping and really gives a gorgeous radiance to the skin. The texture offers a bit more than a regular hydrating serum and also feels really moisturising. You could in fact skip moisturiser if you wanted to go straight to a sunscreen for the day time.
Having said that, the texture still feels really light and refreshing and isn’t sticky like many HA serums can be.
After each use, it leaves my skin looking really toned and more contoured, and fine lines are brilliantly minimised. The feeling and look of hydration is very long lasting, and I find that it leaves my skin really plumped up and dewy all day long.
What are Glycans or Glycosaminoglycans?
These are naturally occurring compounds and part of the skin’s matrix. They provide hydration and structural support to the skin. Glycans, like hyaluronic acid, help promote surface-level plumpness and volume.
How is HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan serum different to other Hyaluronic Acid serums?
This serum contains 5 active ingredients that all work together to plump and contour the skin. The formulation uses 3 different types of Hyaluronic Acid and is also fortifies with licorice root and purple rice extracts to further preserve the HA levels in the skin’s uppermost layer.
Proxylane and a new post-biotic ferment extract also help to increase skin’s plumping glycan levels to boost the look of facial volume.
