College Athletes Donates His NIL Money to Charity

Share

While at the University of Michigan, quarterback JJ McCarthy received a great deal of NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) money. He donated a generous chunk of that money to children’s charities and children’s hospitals.  He donated over $30,000 to these charities while he was a sophomore and over $60,000 during his junior year.  JJ noted that he was very fortunate to be in his position and he wanted to pay it forward to others who were less fortunate.

Joe’s Perspective: This is not something that JJ had to do.  No one would have thought less of him.  However, he felt an obligation to help.  By doing so, he became a role model for other collegiate athletes and a leader to his teammates.  And, if you believe in karma, the good fortune was returned to him when the University of Michigan football team won a national championship.

Your Turn: What are your thoughts about JJ McCarthy after you read this story?
