In 1974, DAYS’s Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) and Laura Spencer Horton (Susan Flannery) wed. She had previously been wed to his brother Mickey, but Laura and Bill shared a son, Mike, who was born out Bill’s drunken rape of Laura years prior (which he blocked out the memory of). The duo wed after many years of drama and angst. The year after they tied the knot, the couple welcomed another child, daughter Jennifer.

In 1999, General Hopsital‘s Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) reunited with her back-from-the-dead love, Roy DiLucca (A Martinez). Roy had seemingly died in Bobbie’s arms in 1979 after shooting politician Mitch Williams. When Daytime Emmy-winner Martinez was tapped to assume the role 20 years later, the story was retconned to explain that Roy had actually survived and been in prison.

In 2012, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton, r.) was presumed dead on General Hospital. Jason had been summoned to the pier by Bernie, and when he arrived, Bernie was poised to be shot by Joe Scully, Jr (Richard Steinmetz). Jason shot him and kicked the weapon out of Joe’s hand. He then tried to aid Bernie, only to be shot in the back by “Duke Lavery” (really, it was Cesar Faison, masquerading as Duke). For good measure, “Duke” kicked Jason’s body into the water, and Jason sank below the surface. This marked Burton’s last appearance in the role of Jason until he returned to the show in 2017.

In 2018, Days of Our Lives‘s Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) was trapped in a burning warehouse. This occurred on the heels of Eric Brady tracking a presumed-dead Nicole down in Nashville, intent on declaring his love for her, whereupon Nicole was forced to tell him that she was married to Xander Cook (who was blackmailing her with evidence that she had killed Deimos Kiriakis). Nicole escaped from under Xander’s thumb and went to meet up with Eric. Alas, it went up in flames upon an explosion, and Nicole was presumed dead once again.
