Lady Gaga’s Cherry Cola Bob Is Very Harley Quinn Coded

Lady Gaga is swapping her Old Hollywood cosplay for a new character. Enter: Harley Quinn, Gaga’s starring role in the new Joker: Folie à Deux film coming out early next month, along with her new companion album, “Harlequin.” To kick off her new era, she opted for a bold hair change, including a new cut and color.

At the UK premiere of the film, Gaga arrived wearing a dramatic red gown with a cascading mermaid skirt and matching coat from Celine. In the Joker-Harley Quinn universe, her character has a black and red color scheme, which Gaga pulled inspiration from for her outfit and hair. She swapped her platinum blonde locks for a messy bob with bangs and fiery red highlights.

We could’ve guessed that Gaga would come method-dressed to the nines, and the hair change just takes it to the next level. Her new bob is like The Fame meets Harley Quinn: Her strands are messy and a bit wavy, with fringed bangs resting right at her bleach-blonde eyebrows. Streaked throughout her black bob were pops of red highlights that matched the color of her dress. The bob landed at her chin, and although it’s likely a wig, it’s still the perfect cut and color for the first premiere look.

Of course, her makeup is just as intentional as her hair and gown. She opted for a turquoise-colored eyeshadow, perhaps inspired by Margot Robbie’s rendition of the character who wore pink and blue glam, or by classic clown looks. Under one eye she had a blue gemstone teardrop, with dark blue gems lining her waterline. Gaga tied everything together with a matching matte red lipstick, likely from her brand, Haus Labs.

Sparkly jewels and a sleek black manicure added the final touches to her first method dressing ensemble. Prepare to be seated for weeks of Joker-themed references and Gaga-ified glam. Her red carpet spin on the character is going down in the style history books, no doubt.
