Southwest Companion Pass, You Can Now Change Companion Online
The Southwest Companion Pass is one of the best travel deals, especially if you are in a Southwest Airlines hub. It has been around for a long time now, and surprisingly, it still delivers the same great value as always.Â
This pass allows another passenger to fly with you for free as many times as you want. They only need to pay taxes for their fare. Traditionally, the pass is valid for the rest of the year it’s earned, plus the entire following year. That’s why it’s best to earn it early in the year.
You may change your designated Companion up to three times each calendar year that you maintain Companion Pass privileges. Any reservation with your current designated Companion must be canceled before changing your designated Companion.
Southwest has made a positive change, making it even easier to change your companion during the year. Previously you would need to call Southwest at 800-435-9792 to make the change, but now you can do it online or through the app by going to My Account. The option might not be available for everyone just yet.
You will typically be able to book travel with your new Companion the same day you make the change. However, please allow 48 hours for processing.
